Dividend investing isn’t as popular as it used to be. But investors looking for a low-risk investment strategy might want to pay more attention.

You might remember the “Bank pays you dividend of $50” card from Monopoly, but what is a dividend? A dividend is a portion of a company’s profits paid out to shareholders on a quarterly basis. As long as you own the stock you’ll continue to get paid and over time these regular payments add up.
